Design ESALs start from an axle configuration, and an axle configuration is hard to reason about from a table of spacings. This draws it — every FHWA truck class and the FAA landing-gear catalogue, true to scale, from any angle, with the spacings and track widths as measurable dimensions rather than numbers you have to trust (Ch. 6). Then it gives you the contact patches — three models, because the literature offers three — and exports their corner coordinates in millimetres for a finite-element pre-processor.
